Reason(s) for wanting to be a mentor:

Preservation is typically not a required course in graduate school. Most programs lack a graduate level course. Yet, it is an integral part of what archives and archivists do on a daily basis. With the collapse of a statewide preservation education and outreach program, SGA members have even fewer resources than before. I want to continue to give back to the archival community in GA by providing preservation information.

Is there any other information about your career or yourself that you would like to share with potential mentees?

I have an MLS with a specialization in Preservation and Conservation Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. I have 10 years of teaching experience and I've hosted several full and part-time interns.

As a mentor, I see myself as:

  • Advisor/Counselor
  • Resource
  • Teacher

I want to help a mentee:

  • Expand their core knowledge of professional issues, archival standards, best-practices, etc.
  • By providing assistance with a specific goal (such as a project, publication, presentation, grant submission, etc.)
