Tina Mason Seetoo (Mentor #2011-11)
Reason(s) for wanting to be a mentor:
Preservation is typically not a required course in graduate school, if it's offered at all. Yet it is an integral part of what Archivists do. I want to give back to the profession and this is the best way I can do that.
Is there any other information about your career or yourself that you would like to share with potential mentees?
I have an MLS with a specialization in Preservation and Conservation Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. I have 10 years of teaching experience and I've hosted several full and part-time interns.
As a mentor, I see myself as:
- Advisor/Counselor
- Resource
- Teacher
I want to help a mentee:
- Expand their core knowledge of professional issues, archival standards, best-practices, etc.
- By providing assistance with a specific goal (such as a project, publication, presentation, grant submission, etc.)
